The Marble Arch Caves located close to the Fermanagh/Cavan border has recently re-opened its tour facilities to visitors. The popular attraction was closed temporarily back in September due to the instalment of a new cave lighting system which has 'enhanced' the overall visitor experience as well as increasing visitor safety.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Stephen Cox who is the new Manager for the Marble Arch Caves said, “The visitor experience is much more enhanced, there is elements of the cave that have never been seen before which visitors can now see.
“Our tour guides are really excited to bring our visitors down to see new elements of the cave which were never exposed before. The cave is an active cave with a river running through it, the different formations of the cave are much more highlighted and it’s much brighter. Anyone who has been down has been very impressed and has loved the new experience along with the works which have been done."
He continued; "The caves would have around 75,00 visitors per year however, the wider attachment area including the popular Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail, Cladagh Glen National Nature Reserve and the Killykeeghan Nature Reserve, could welcome up to over 100,000 visitors per year and we want to continue that for many years to come." As a result, this natural environment of caves, rivers, mountains, ancient woodlands, waterfalls and gorges now offers an opportunity for visitors to enjoy the incredible range of activities and experiences the Marble Arch Caves have to offer.
