The managing director of a local travel agent has criticised the government for its comments on international travel.
Mark Clifford, of O'Hanrahan Travel in Monagahan, says it's "simply not true" to say that international travel is a "main instigator" of Covid transmission in Ireland.
It comes following Taoiseach Michéal Martin's comments to the Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Party, where he stated that people will face tougher sanctions for travelling for holidays.
Mr Clifford said this was "a deflection method" on behalf of the government.
He added that there were only 21 flights in and out of Dublin airport yesterday, a figure Mr Clifford says would be closer to 300 in a normal January.
