A pursuit ensued, and an Armed Support Unit car was deliberately rammed in Inniskeen.

A man charged over an incident of dangerous driving and criminal damage to a Garda vehicle in Monaghan last month will appear in court later today.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the 20th of December. At around 2am on that Friday morning, uniformed Gardaí on patrol in Ballykelly, Co Louth, observed a car travelling at speed towards Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan. The vehicle drove at the marked patrol car and Gardaí had to take evasive action to avoid being deliberately struck.

A pursuit ensued, and an Armed Support Unit car was deliberately rammed in Inniskeen. The chase continued through a number of townlands in Killmurray and Culloville, where the man attempted to ram the ASU car again. He lost control of the vehicle and two men in their 20s were arrested. A third fled on foot and a search of the car revealed a quantity of drugs and cash.
