Man killed in quad collision near Finea named locally

Dean Wearen, who was from Kells, Co.Meath, died when the quad bike he was riding collided with a motorcycle at Ballynascarry over the weekend.

A man in his 20s who died in a fatal collision near Finea on the Cavan-Westmeath border has been named locally.

Dean Wearen, who was from Kells, Co.Meath, died when the quad bike he was riding collided with a motorcycle at Ballynascarry over the weekend.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the mortuary in Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar for a post mortem examination. The passenger of the quad bike, who is also aged in his 20s, was removed from the scene to Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore with non-life threatening injuries. The motorcyclist, who is in his 30s, is in a critical condition in the Mater Hospital in Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision who may have dash-cam footage to make contact with Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000.
