The man who died following a road traffic collision near Bailieborough has been named locally.
Piotr Aronik, of Boggan, Moynalty and Mullagh died following a fatal road traffic collision involving a car and a parked truck that occurred at approximately 11:30am on Friday morning last.
The crash occurred on the R178 at Carrickgorman, near Bailieborough.
Mr Aronik a father of one aged in his 40's, was the driver and sole occupant of the car involved. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death is the third fatality on Cavan roads in just over a week. Gardaí are meanwhile appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R178 at Carrickgorman, Bailieborough between 11am and 12pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
