A man in his 80s has died in a road crash in Co Westmeath.
The two-car collision happened at Gartlandstown in Castlepollard at around 5.30am this morning. The man, who was a passenger in one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman in her 60s, who was the driver, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, who were in the other car were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It follows the death of a man in his 50s who died in a single-vehicle crash at Teevrevagh in Castlepollard at around 6.40pm yesterday evening. A woman in her 40s and her 8-year-old daughter were killed when their car hit a lorry at Foxford, just before 6pm yesterday.
