A man has died following a serious assault in Sligo.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened on Tuesday evening.
The man in his late 30s suffered a head injury in the attack on Tuesday evening in the Rockwood Parade area of Sligo town.
Gardai say emergency services attended the scene shortly after 6pm - the man was taken to Sligo University Hospital, but was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where he was later pronounced dead.
A post mortem will be carried out but Gardai say they are treating the man's death as suspicious.
The scene of the attack was also preserved and a forensic examination has been carried out.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward, and for anyone who was in the vacinity of Rockwood Parade, between 5 o'ckock and a quarter past 6 on Tuesday evening and may have video or dashcam footage, to make it available to them.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sligo Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line.
