A man has died following a crash outside Virginia.
Shortly before 9.30 last night, Gardai received reports that a car had collided with the back of a parked truck on the R147 at Carnaross.
The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been removed to the mortuary of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Navan, where a post-mortem will be carried out.
The R147 road between Kells and Virginia remains closed this morning as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene, with local diversions in place.
Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have witnesses the collision, or been travelling on the road between 9pm and 10pm yesterday to contact them.
