Gardaí are continuing this lunchtime to detain a man in relation to a serious assault of a woman in her 60s.
The woman was found with serious injuries at a house in Carrickmacross yesterday afternoon.
She was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where her condition has been described as critical but stable.

A man in his 20s was arrested in relation to this assault and continues to be held at a garda station in Monaghan.
