A man charged in relation to a serious assault in Bailieborough is appearing before Monaghan District Court this afternoon charged in connection with the incident.
The man was charged yesterday evening and a file is currently being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Meanwhile, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, gardaí were called to an incident in the town where a man in his 20s was found with serious injuries.

Two men were subsequently arrested a short time later and brought to Bailieborough Garda Station for questioning.
One man has since been charged.
