A man has been charged following a drug driving incident in the region.
On Monday evening Gardaí in Castleblayney received a report of a vehicle driving erratically on the N2 travelling from Ardee towards Carrickmacross.
They intercepted the car near Castleblayney and noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle.
The driver, who was making a non-essential journey, failed a drug test, tested positive for Cannabis, was arrested, charged and will now appear in Court.
This comes after calls this week from Monaghan councillor Raymond Aughey for a nationwide campaign educating people on the impact of drug driving, which he says is becoming common place.
