A man in his 20s is still in custody this morning after a nine-year-old boy was knocked down in Co Donegal.
He was hit by a car on Atlantic Way in Bundoran shortly after 9.20 on Saturday night.
The man was arrested on Sunday and taken to a garda station in Donegal for questioning, where he can be held for up to 24 hours.
Bundoran councillor Michael McMahon says anyone who witnessed the crash should contact Gardaí:
'If there's any information that anyone knows [it] should be related to Gardaí immediately,' Councillor McMahon said.
Mr McMahon also paid tribute to Gardaí and other emergency service staff who attended the tragic scene at the weekend. 'They have to be commended for the work they done,' he said.
