A man has been arrested by Gardaí investigating the murder of an eight-year-old girl in Wexford.
Malika Al Kattib died following the incident at a home on William Street in New Ross on Sunday night.
A man in his 30s was discharged from hospital and arrested by Gardaí on suspicion of murder this afternoon. He's currently being detained at a Garda station in the Eastern Region. Malika's mother was also injured in the incident in New Ross on Sunday night, at around 11.45pm. She was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
Gardai believe they have established most of the facts surrounding the incident and are following a definite line of inquiry.
