A man has been arrested in connection with a claim of responsibility made after the attempted murder of DCI John Caldwell. The senior PSNI detective was shot multiple times outside a leisure centre in Omagh in February - in a dissident republican attack.
The 23-year-old suspect is being questioned under the terrorism act. Meanwhile, Detective Chief Inspector Caldwell was shot several times as he returned to his car at a sports complex on the Killyclogher Road.
He was putting footballs into the boot of a car, accompanied by his young son, when two gunmen approached him.
