A local senator has highlighted major updates to the current status of primary care centres across Co Monaghan. Senator Robbie Gallagher recently raised the matter with Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly in the Seanad.
Minister Donnelly confirmed that he is "hoping" to have the handover of the Clones Primary Care facility to the HSE in early July and that the delivery of the service will be up and running by the end of August.
According to Senator Gallagher, major developments will also take place on the grounds of St Davnet's in Monaghan, with the facility also expected to be opened by the end of August - start of September with GPs signed up already.
Elsewhere, a planning application has been lodged for works on the Castleblayney Primary Care Centre, whilst the Ballybay facility is waiting for a contractor to go on site "imminently."
Speaking to Northern Sound, Senator Gallagher said this was "positive news" for primary care facilities throughout the county. He added that it's all about brining healthcare to the people.
"It's a positive development and it's great that we can see such great delivery within our own county of Monaghan," said Senator Gallagher. "It's great to see that these projects are finally hitting their destinations and it's bringing healthcare into each community of our county."
