Aughnamullen native Pearse McMahon was the official escort of the newly crowned Rose of Tralee 2024.

This year's Rose of Tralee Festival was highly successful for one Co Monaghan man. Aughnamullen native Pearse McMahon was the official escort of the newly crowned Rose of Tralee 2024  - Keely O'Grady. New Zealand's Keely O'Grady was crowned as the 64th Rose of Tralee lastnight, with local man Pearse McMahon also featuring on our TV screens across the two-night coverage on RTE ONE.

The 22-year-old from Aughnamullen works as an accountant in the ever expanding firm Amatino, which is based in Monaghan Town. His two main sponsors over the weekend were 'Tradex Paints' and 'Edgar Textiles'. In a previous interview ahead of the 64th Rose of Tralee Festival, Pearse said that in his spare time he wastes "every cent possible" on cars and everything car related. The 22-year-old also plays handball and is a former juvenile player with Aughnamullen GAA.

Pearse was selected as an escort for  New Zealand's Keely O'Grady who was crowned as the 64th Rose of Tralee. The 21-year0-old is the first Kiwi to win the competition since 1988. She was named the winner after 32 roses were interviewed by hosts Daithí Ó Sé and Kathryn Thomas in the Co Kerry town over the last two nights.
