Local council workers were called to a major poultry waste spill in the village of Emyvale earlier today. According to a statement posted online by the Emyvale Tidy Towns group, the incident was likely caused due to sudden heavy breaking at faulty traffic lights in the village which have caused problems. In a statement issued to Northern Sound, Monaghan County Council said it received a call from a member of the public reporting a poultry spill on Main Street, Emyvale.
Monaghan Municipal District staff attended the scene and a clean-up operation took place. The road has since been cleared, as motorists were previously advised to exercise caution when travelling through the Main Street. Members of the Emyvale Tidy Towns group praised the speedy work of members from Monaghan County Council's Environment Section.
