Planning permission to provide enhancements to the existing civic space in Monaghan Town has been lodged in recent days.
The plans will see major changes to the church square location in the town centre which is an architectural conservation area.
Monaghan County Council have submitted the plans which see the removal of the existing bollards, seating and trees, along with removal and relocation of the beehive sculpture.
The replacement of existing flagstone ground surface with natural stone paving is also planned for this upgrade of the area with the relocation of the existing taxi rank from Church Square to north road.
Changes of the road layout is also planned with the narrowing of the road carriageway, removal of two right turn lanes and associated drainage works.
Plans submitted in recent days will also see the modification of the existing pedestrian crossing, the provision of 17. Trees, and the provision of 2. Lighting poles with 3. Circular seats and all other ancillary site works.
