Major funding boost announced for local community groups

A total of 25 Community Groups across Monaghan and Cavan will receive a funding boost.

Minister Heather Humphreys has announced funding for 25 Community Groups across Monaghan and Cavan. Grants of up to €25,000 will be provided for a wide range of enhancement and refurbishment works at local community centres. The Community Centres Investment Fund 2024 was launched in June 2024 under two categories; Category 1 for minor works with grant aid up to €25,000 and Category 2 for larger works with grant aid up to €100,000. Over €7.6million is being announced under Category 1, while successful projects under Category 2 will be announced in the coming months.

In a statement issued to Northern Sound,  Minister Humphreys said; "I introduced the Community Centre Investment Fund in 2022. My ambition was to develop a fund to support our local community centres in the same way that the Sports Capital Programme supports upgrade and improvement works at our local sports facilities. This funding is about supporting local groups to carry out vital upgrade works as well as enhancing the services and amenities they can provide to persons of all ages in their community."

The projects in Monaghan are: Aghabog Development Association Community Centre: €25,000, Aghabog GFC Community Clubhouse: €25,000, Carrickasedge Community Centre: €23,096, Clones Community Centre: €23,748 Clones Development Society Facility: €10,000, Braddox Community Centre, Clontibret: €14,00, Doohamlet Community and Resource Centre: €25,000 Drumhowan Community Centre: €25,000, Oakland Community Centre, Glaslough: €11,257, Latton O'Rahilly GAA Community Hall: €15,000, Latton Community Resource Centre: €23,271, Lisdoonan Community Centre: €21,081, Lisnagrieve Community Hall: €23,000, Sean McDermotts GAA Club Community Centre: €25,000St Michael's Regional Community Development: €23,022, Tullycorbet Community Development Association: €23,750 and Tyholland Community Centre: €23,750.

The projects in Cavan are: Bailieborough Shamrocks GAA Community Centre: €23,732, Ballyhaise Community Hall: €25,000, Cootehill Community Hub: €24,665, Bunnoe, Community Enterprise Centre: €2,565, Drumgoon Community Centre: €23,647, Redhills Development Association/Killoughter Parochial Community Centre: €19,609, Templeport Resource Centre: €23,516 and Tullacmongan Community Resource Centre: €24,537.
