A "major expansion" of classroom accommodation at two Cavan schools has been approved by the Department of Education.
Cólaiste Dun an Rí in Kingscourt opened in 2018 and was built to cater for 500 students.
The additional accommodation will allow the school to double its intake to 1,000 students.
Breifne College will also benefit from additional classroom accommodation, which will enable the school to accommodate 1,200 pupils.
Local TD Brendan Smith says the CMETB has a very good record in delivering building projects and he has no doubt they will progress the planning and design without delay.
