New electric car registrations have dropped dramatically in the Northern Sound region in the last 12 months.
According to new figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, registrations of electrics cars in Cavan have halved.
There have been 76 new electric cars registered in Cavan so far this year, down from 154 the same time last year. Meanwhile in Monaghan, registrations have dropped 33%, from 94 in 2023 to 63 this year.
Nationally, new electric car registrations have dropped by an an average of 25% in 12 months, putting both counties significantly above the average.
