The Programme for Government has removed some of the more negative policies for farming and rural Ireland.
That’s according to Cavan native and Macra Na Feirme President Thomas Duffy.
Mr Duffy said there are some concerning details, particularly around nitrogen derogation, something which is very important to dairy farmers.
However, he added that there are many positive elements and that it is good to see there is no mention of cuts to the national herd or major transitions away from grass-based farming.
