A prisoner at Loughan House in Cavan says the public should be more open to welcoming prisoners back into society.
Warren Graham appeared virtually at yesterday's Joint Committee on Justice, which met to examine rehabilitative opportunities within the Irish Prison system.
His address was described as "historic" by Committee Chair James Lawless, as it was the first time someone from within the prison system gave evidence before the committee.
Mr Graham told the Committee that he has spent a third of his life in prison, but has been "transformed" through educational programmes.
