Longer prison sentences should be handed down for people convicted of acts of domestic violence.
The call comes after Pearse McAuley walked free from prison after spending 7 years of a 12 year sentence for a knife attack on his ex-wife.
He stabbed Pauline Tully, now a Sinn Féin TD, 13 times in 2014.

Pauline Tully said the current sentencing guidelines do not act as a deterrent.
