A local councillor says he is frustrated over a lack of safety measures that's in place on a busy regional road in the county.
Cllr Philip Brady says he has raising this issue for 7 or 8 years and has had a lot of broken promises from previous engineers in the local authority. He said that the stretch of road at Cornea has a school and church and the levels of speeding that is ongoing there is very worrying.
The Fianna Fail Councillor also added the lack of lighting that is currently there is another major issue. Cllr Shane P O'Reilly supported Cllr Brady's motion to finally get measures in place at the location adding that motorists speeding was the big problem in this area.
Cllr Winston Bennet added that it was a deadly spot and a recipe for a disaster, he asked the question would a speed van parked there help with the situation. An irate Cllr Brady says he is calling on the council to see what can be done on this dangerous stretch.
