The long-awaited Group Home in Carrickmacross will open by the end of next month.
Local Senator Robbie Gallagher raised the issue in the Seanad yesterday and said that the building has been lying idle for far too long.
The facility for people with physical and sensory disabilities got the green light for construction in 2006 and was finished in 2017.
However, a number of issues in relation to funding and snag lists means it remains closed.
Minister of State at the Department of Health Anne Rabbitte confirmed that the "home should be open for residents to move in by the end of March".
Deputy Rabbitte added that she looked forward to visiting the newly-opened facility when she visits the region on the 28th of March.
