The Cathaoirleach of the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD says he will be seeking "no plaudits" for the opening of a long-awaited Group Home in Carrickmacross.
PJ O'Hanlon told a recent MD meeting that it was wrong for the Drummond Lodge Group Home to have been lying idle for so long.
The facility for people with physical and sensory disabilities got the green light for construction in 2006 and was finished in 2017.
However, a number of issues in relation to funding meant the HSE were unable to run the facility.
Councillor O'Hanlon says lessons need to be learned and that future applications should ensure funding is in place "until the very end of the project".
Drummond Lodge will be opened by Minister of State at the Department of Health, Anne Rabbitte, on Monday morning.
