Log cabins should not need planning permission, to help ease the housing crisis.
That's according to the Rural Independents Group, which says Ireland's planning laws must be relaxed.
Deputy Mattie McGrath, from the group, is calling for the cabins to be used as a temporary measure.
In the last week, I have dealt with three in my area that have log cabins built and they are being served with notices to remove them due to have no planning permission.
We need an amendment to the planning act to allow people to use log cabins even for a 5 or 10 year moratorium which will help levitate the current housing situation.
