A location has been selected for the planned pop-swimming in Carrickmacross. According to Sinn Fein's Colm Carthy, the selected location is the car park at the Carrick Aces Running Track (at the Tullynaskeagh walkway). Cllr Carthy praised the chosen area for its accessibility, adding that it is already a "hive" for activity. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Carthy described it as a "great location" and that he "looks forward" to getting it into use as soon as possible.
While the pop-up swimming pool is only a temporary measure, Cllr Carthy insists that its presence in the local area is all part of a bigger plan. He said; "I would be encouraging members of the public to make use of the pop-up swimming pool when we have it, although it is temporary, it's all part of the bigger plan in trying to get a leisure centre in Carrickmacross. We have received tenders in relation to a feasibility study and an assessment report and I'm hopeful that the Council Executive over the coming weeks will be in a position will be in a position to select a company to carry out those works for us."
