Locals across the Northern Sound region are gearing up for a weekend of sunshine and sunblock. Temperatures are set to soar to 21 degrees, according to Met Éireann.
Despite all the excitement, the Irish Coast Guard is warning people to be extra vigilant on or near water.
Ciara Gleeson is the Education Development Executive for Water Safety Ireland. Speaking to Northern Sound, she advised people to be "mindful" when visiting local waters this weekend.
She is also encouraging local swimmers to not be "complacent" adding that 80 percent of drownings happen to a person, in their own home county.
"Make sure you are informed before you go to a waterway, it's important to have a plan and to familiarise yourself with the location itself," Ciara explained.
