People across Cavan and Monaghan are being urged to support Cystic Fibrosis Ireland's annual fundraiser '65 Roses Day' which is taking place today, the 14th of April.
65 Roses Day derives its name from the way in which young children often first say the words 'Cystic Fibrosis' and seeks to raise much-needed funds for services and supports in Ireland.
On the day, volunteers will be out in force across the region selling purple roses at Dunnes Stores and at other participating outlets. Meanwhile, Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that primarily affects the lungs and the digestive system.
Ireland has the highest incidence of the disease with 1,400 people living with Cystic Fibrosis and the number is increasing each year as a result of improvements in treatment and care.
