Public Engagement Officer with the National Ambulance Service Liam Stewart says Community First Responders play a vital role in helping save lives.

The public of Cavan and Monaghan are being encouraged to learn a lifesaving skill heading into the new year.
Every year over 3000 people suffer a cardiac incident, with those interested now being encouraged to learn CPR and become a part of a
Community First Responders Group.

Public Engagement Officer with the National Ambulance Service Liam Stewart says Community First Responders play a vital role in helping save lives.
CPR and Defibrillation was being applied before the arrival of an ambulance in 72 incidents in Cavan and Monaghan up to November.
Speaking on the Wider View about the Corlough First Responders, he says learning the basics of CPR could make all the difference between a person surviving or not, especially in rural Ireland:
