A local councillor is calling on the Minister for Transport to ensure all airlines have a box to tick to ensure your passport is in date.
Cllr Philip Brady said this element to the booking process should be introduced while booking a flight and in turn will be in date by the time you fly.
The local councillor brought the motion before the most recent sitting of Cavan County Council highlighting the importance of making your passport is in date prior to any overseas travels planned this year. Cllr Brady said like other councillors in the area as the summer approaches they find themselves in undated with people finding out with just days to their break away that their passport is out of date.
He says this introduction by airlines would make sure this issue does not arise. The Mullahoran native is appealing to anyone travelling abroad this summer to make sure they check their passports well in advance of any trip to the sun.
