A local community has rallied around a young couple that were left homeless following Storm Debi.
A young Cavan woman, battling a rare spinal condition, has been left homeless along with her partner after the storm ripped the roof of her mobile home last week.
Wheelchair user Kim Hannigan and her partner Stuart were living in the mobile in the Tunnyduff area while they renovate a house on the site. Luckily they had just left the mobile home to take shelter for themselves and their pets in the main house, which has no services, when the roof came off.
It was the fear of a tree falling on the mobile home that prompted Kim to wake her partner and relocate to the main house. Aside from a bed they moved into the main house from the mobile home, the couple are currently struggling without many household essentials.
The community has been rallying around the young couple to assist them following being left without a place to call home. Speaking to Northern Sound, Kim describes the moment the roof came off her mobile home during Storm Debbie last month. A go fund me page has been set up to help with a re[placement mobile home by Christmas for the couple.
