Local residents have raised their concerns over the lack of traffic calming measures in the Ballyoisin/Knockconnan area.
Within the small area there is two housing estates, as well as facilities such as a day care centre and a primary school. According to Sinn Fein local election candidate Bronagh McAree, while there has been a lot of development across the local areas in recent years, there has been no traffic calming measures put in place to reflect that. The local election hopeful says that residents are concerned for the safety of young people from the area and "rightly so."
As a result, she has called for traffic calming measures to be put in place urgently in order to protect people and reduce the risk of a fatality:
