Residents have expressed their concerns over a planning application for a purposed quarry for sand and gravel on the outskirts of Ballyconnell.
Locals say the vibrations from the quarry, whether from possible blasting or the extraction of rock, will cause the area to vibrate and drive animals away.
They believe their homes and residents will suffer from direct results due to the vibrations also. The site is 100 metres away from the planned quarry are two completely intact raised bogs which were created during the last ice age
Eimear Crowe spokesperson for the group says locals are concerned over the negative effects that a quarry in Ballyheady would have on their lives.
