Cavan County Council hosted its Cavan County Estate Awards yesterday. The awards are an initiative of the Housing Department designed to support and acknowledge the work of resident groups in housing estates in Cavan. Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr Philip Brady presented awards to 23 groups. The 'Best Kept Small Estates' award went to New Line in Cootehill and Doonbeg in Ballyconnell. Elsewhere, the award for 'Best Kept Large Estates' went to Drumnaveil in Cootehill and Lakeview in Cavan.
Other categories and winners included; Climate Change Champions - Corstruce Ballinagh, Kilnavara Heights Cavan and Sean Lee Drive Belturbet. Blooming Beautiful Awards - Marian Row Ballinagh, Ard Dun Kingscourt and Owen Roe Cavan. Community Participation Awards - Fairgreen Mullagh, Bexcourt Bailieborough and John Paul Avenue Cavan. Litter Free Awards - Rathdrum Virginia, Railway Road Killeshandra, Cannons Hill Killeshandra, Fairymount Kingscourt, Drumman Cootehill, Augnaskerrry Cavan and St Martins Cavan. Future Planning Awards - Fairview Cavan, Lough View Gowna. Best Project - St Patricks Terrace Cavan.
Cllr Brady extended his thanks to all resident groups for their dedication and congratulated the winners of the Estate Awards on their well-deserved recognition. He noted that all residents’ groups registered with Cavan County Council received financial support through the annual grant for the ongoing work that they do, and the awards shine an additional spotlight on those who have been particularly impressive in their efforts.
