The HSE for the North-east region have advised people in Cavan and Monaghan who may need medical treatment for minor injuries over the Christmas period that they can avail of the services of Monaghan and Louth hospitals.
Patients can attend either hospital for injuries; like broken bones, sprains, minor burns and other non life-threatening injuries.
The Monaghan Injury Unit will be open every day from 8am until 8pm.
The Dundalk Injury Unit at Louth County Hospital is open from 9am until 8pm every day including bank holidays.
The HSE reminds people that emergency departments like that at Cavan General Hospital deal with serious injuries and life-threatening
emergencies, so ask people to please only attend when necessary.
Local people should also be mindful that the out-of-hours NEDOC service is expected to be extremely busy especially at peak times.
