As the new regulations for speed limits on rural roads has been rolled out across the Northern Sound region, some local motorists say the signage is causing confusion.
And, Martina Donnelly from Tullycorbet, Co. Monaghan said some road users are bound to incur fines or worse, because they are not sure of what speed limit to do on some roads.
In the weeks leading up top the nationwide reduction from 80 km per hour limit on rural local roads to 60 km / hr, Cavan and Monaghan County Councils have been changing the signage to back up the new regulations.
Northern Sound listeners have been reporting new correct signage on some roads but on others black plastic covering new signs ahead of today's change and, in other cases, old signs are still in situ. Martina gave an example of a road near where she lives that could catch drivers out:
