A local undertaker says it's "sad" churches that can accommodate large numbers are being restricted to ten for funeral services.
Declan Finnegan is an undertaker and the owner of Lakelands Crematorium in Cavan Town, and he added that there stricter protocols in place in many churches than there are in some supermarkets.
Representatives of the country's archbishops have met with the Taoiseach to urge him to increase the cap to 25, the same limit currently in place in Northern Ireland.
Declan questioned why supermarkets can have "hundreds" of customers, while close relatives have been unable to attend funerals.
