A Monaghan travel agent says hoteliers in Spain and other popular holiday destinations are facing the same crisis as every household and business in Ireland, in relation to soaring costs.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show earlier today, Mark Clifford of O'Hanrahan Travel, debunked concerns that a "rip-off" culture had kicked-in for people when booking a holiday abroad.
While there is high demand for bookings during peak seasons like July and August, the Monaghan native says last-minute deals are still available for "great value" despite concerns.
He claimed like Ireland, many pubs and restaurants in Spain won't open again due to energy costs and staffing issues, and described the car hire sector as "off the scale" in terms of cost.
Despite this, Mr Clifford "doesn't expect" airfares to go up, and says he can't think of any other industry in which prices have continued to drop over the years.
