Irish is becoming a 'cool' language again according to a local teacher.
Following the latest census, 40% of the population indicated some proficiency in the Irish language.
This was an increase of 6% on the previous census in 2016.
Áine Smith is a Cavan county councillor and an Irish teacher in St Mogue's College, Bawnboy.
She says there's been a major uptake in the number of students taking higher level Irish in the Cavan school
