A Monaghan resident has expressed her concerns in relation to a number of issues that she has faced from working in the teaching profession. Monaghan resident and Donegal teacher Suzzanne Early, attended the TUI Conference which finished in Cork earlier today and used the proceedings as a platform to outline a number of her concerns.
Living outside Emyvale, Suzzanne is teaching in Dean's College in Raphoe and is commuting 15 hours a week to her job. She has been teaching in Donegal for the last 15 years and is "concerned" that she is loosing out on valuable family time because of the commute.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Suzzanne said she has applied for redeployment but has been asked to retrain in order to do so. To retrain, she needs to work in a Co Monaghan school, but nothing has become available to her.
Suzzane believes additional pressures in her profession are also adding to her stress levels which she says have been brought about by Education Minister, Norma Foley without any consultation with those working on the ground.
