A local Fianna Fáil TD has welcomed a commitment by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform to advance the Peace Plus Programme, which could be worth up to a billion euro.
Peace Plus is a new funding programme designed to support peace across the border counties of Ireland and the North, building on the work of the previous PEACE and INTERREG Programmes.
Brendan Smith raised the issue in the Daíl and Minister Michael McGrath confirmed that a public consultation on the draft Peace Plus Programme is nearing a conclusion.
Deputy Smith says these programmes bring "much-needed investment to many disadvantaged communities in the border region and in Northern Ireland".
