A Local TD says lessons need to be learned to avoid a Covid-19 outbreak in meat factories in the region.
This follows MII welcoming the news of unannounced inspections being carried out at meat plants across the country to check for compliance with coronavirus measures.
Sinn Fein’s Matt Carthy says he had asked at a Covid Committee meeting on July 10th if MII would meet with worker representatives from factories but was told there was no value in meeting.
He also says that this situation could and should have been managed and the past and current governments let it get out of control, but welcomes the Dail Covid Committee chair's call to convene a meeting this Thursday.
