A local TD wants an awareness campaign introduced to remove the taboo around menopause.
Fianna Fail's Niamh Smyth says education and research are central to stopping the stigma and encouraging more conversations surrounding it.
At a recent parliamentary party meeting, and in the Dail, Deputy Smyth sought a commitment from the Department of Health to create a programme that would normalise seeking help and advice on menopause.
She also wants the Department of Education to examine if it could be rolled out through the second-level curriculum.
