A Monaghan TD has urged "vigilance" in response to the announcement this week that Castleblayney is to get a new Gael Scoil.
On Tuesday, Education Minister Norma Foley announced the existing Gael Scoil Lorgan, which is located in an industrial estate, will get a new purpose-built eight-classroom school on the Shercock Road. The new building was first promised in 2015. When completed, the new Gael Scoil will also have two special education teaching rooms.
Monaghan-based Sinn Féin TD Matt Carthy, welcomed the announcement but said, with schools, you never know:
