Cavan Sinn Féin TD Pauline Tully says she told Mary Lou McDonald she didn't want to be appointed to the party's front bench because she wants to look after her children.
The first time TD wasn't among those allocated a party spokesperson role yesterday.
However, it's reported she's expected to take on the role of Chair of the Public Accounts Committee over the coming weeks but Deputy Tully says little discussion has taken place about committee positions.
Local TDs Martin Kenny, Matt Carthy and Claire Kerrane were all appointed to the Sinn Féin front bench yesterday.
Speaking on The Joe Finnegan Show Pauline Tully said she told Mary Lou McDonald she would not take on a front bench role when she was first approached to run for the party as she is a single mother to two young children.
