A local TD says universities and third level institutions need to provide urgent clarity on student timetables for the upcoming academic year.
Fianna Fáil TD Niamh Smyth says students should not have to sign long-term leases until they know how often they will have to be on campus.
It is thought some students may only have to physically attend their courses one or two days a week due to covid-19 restrictions.
Deputy Smyth says many students are currently in a state of limbo and need clarity on their timetables before they hand over large deposits to landlords when they may be able to travel instead.
She told Shannonside Northern Sound that the colleges must provide a clear timetable to students:
