A local TD says ‘tangible solutions’ will be put to Government to save the live music and nightlife sectors.
Fianna Fáil’s Niamh Smith, chair of the Oireachtais Committee on Tourism and the Arts, was commenting following a meeting with members of the night time economy and performers, which she says painted a bleak image of their future.
Deputy Smith says she is fearful not only will the country lose more venues, but we will lose the creative, talented performers that the country is renowned for worldwide if something doesn’t change.
She says it is clear the sector was already on its knees and they now need a night time economy that is policy driven in order to save local pubs, clubs , and hotels in the wake of Covid:
